ESRIUM gets noticed at the ATTC 2022 event – The Austrian Trade Air on Intelligent Roads Talking To Vehicles on 18th October 2022, at the ASFINAG location in📍Kaisermühlen!
At a common booth with Austrian partners, representatives of FH OÖ – Logistikum Wolfgang Schildorfer from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria presented the role of the European projects ESRIUM 👉https://esrium.eu/ and AWARD-H2020 👉https://award-h2020.eu/ for the national digital twin discussion and the future role of C-ITS for CCAM deployments. Two other projects shared the booth with ESRIUM and AWARD: DIGEST and COPE. Austrian industry players presented their innovative C-ITS solutions as a cornerstone for future cooperative, connected, automated mobility. Already available solutions as well as actual research and development projects underlined the leading role of Austrian players within this future market.
About 150 representatives of policy, industry and research followed the invitation of ASFINAG to be part of this outstanding event.

ATTC members showcase C-ITS traffic solutions at the Kaisermühlen highway maintenance depot!
Vienna (OTS) – On October 18, 2022, members of the Austrian Traffic Telematics Cluster (ATTC) demonstrated the future state of the art for ITS traffic solutions of tomorrow. For this purpose, the ATTC invited experts from research and development as well as from the operational and public administration sectors to the ASFINAG location in Kaisermühlen. A special guest of honor was MSc. Gerhard Menzel, head of the BMK department for intelligent transport systems & digital transformation, who was welcomed by the ATTC. This event impressively showed that Austria is at the forefront in the international ITS sector.
As the world’s first road operator, ASFINAG is using C-ITS technology (also known as Car2X or V2X) and enables highways to intelligently communicate with the latest vehicles.
C-ITS stands for cooperative intelligent transport systems and is a pioneer of modern and connected mobility between road, rail, public transport, and vehicles. With C-ITS, infrastructure and vehicles can immediately warn each other of local hazards, bring current information directly into the vehicles, adjust traffic flow through intelligent traffic lights, or give priority to emergency vehicles on callouts.
The Austrian Traffic Telematics Cluster (ATTC) was founded in 2003 as an association to promote telematics. This cluster, consisting of renowned Austrian companies from research, business, and industry, has set itself the goal, in the interest of the Austrian economy, to work both on the further development and on the practical implementation of new telematics system technologies in transportation. ASFINAG is a founding member of the ATTC.
The project, funded under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme, emphasizes the importance of road wear prediction. By utilizing data from road wear detection, weather patterns, and traffic conditions, the ESRIUM team has developed algorithms that can predict road damage deterioration over time.
